Master Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Yay! It’s finally completed, our new master bedroom retreat is 100% done and ready to be relaxed in. We’ve been in our new home for close to one year now and have anxiously been awaiting the completion of our bedroom makeover after having to first complete some more essential rooms like the kitchen and bathrooms. But, alas the day is here and i’m so excited to share it with you.

This room has come a long way since it’s “before” state full of dark wood trim (the ugly kind!) and mismatched hand-me-down furniture. As mentioned in our previous before posts our vision for the room was to keep it light and airy and most importantly uncluttered. With the help of various furniture companies we have been able to create our dream bedroom and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

All watermarked photos were taken by the amazing duo Amanda and Joe from Amanda Smyth Photo, non watermarked photos are my own.

Our first piece of business was upgrading our queen size bed to a king and let me tell you friends, this was by far our best decision. We chose a king size mattress from Sleep On Latex . We felt overwhelmed at the amount of mattress choices available but after much research we decided on this company because their latex mattresses are made of 100% natural latex foam and other organic materials. It is important to us to have a mattress that we know is safe and not full of harmful chemicals. Besides being natural and organic this mattress is incredibly comfortable. We chose a medium firmness and it has been perfect for us! Despite these luxurious qualities their mattresses are quite affordable and they even offer free shipping.

With the decision to upgrade to a king came the need to find a new headboard and this was an easy choice for us. We loved the look of a metal head and footboard and fell in love with this one.

We also needed to pick out new bedding and I knew from the get-go that I wanted something simple and in the white or gray color scheme. I came across these ready to go sheet sets and we love them. After sleeping on the sheets for almost a month now we can attest to the fact that they do get more and more comfortable with each wash. We also loved that they offer a 100 night guarantee, you can sleep in them for 100 nights and if you’re not satisfied return them for a full discount.

This throw blanket adds the perfect splash of color and style to the bedding.

Can you believe my husband has never had a nightstand on his side of the bed?! Our master bedroom in our previous home was too tiny for us to each have a night stand so he had to make do without one. So, it sure is a luxury for us to each have one in our new home. Funny though, they are now both mostly empty since we’ve committed to living clutter free in this house. We love this matching pair.

Matching lamps for each of the nightstands helped bring this part of the room together. Seriously, I love these lamps. I spent so much time searching for the right clear lamps and am so happy we chose these!

This gorgeous jewelry dish from Kindred Made is perfect to keep on my nightstand and store my jewelry on. I have a bad habit of never removing my rings or other jewelry so this is a helpful and stylish! reminder to do so.

Scrolling through this post these beautiful wooden silhouettes may have caught your eye. They are surely two of the most beautiful and meaningful pieces in our room. They came from a shop no longer in business, but you can likely find more on Etsy.

Across from our bed we created a small gallery wall with the help of Framebridge. I was torn between natural wood or white frames but i’m so happy I went with the white ones. I know I keep bringing up our newfound love of neutrals and no clutter, but I really can’t tell you how much more relaxing it is to have a house full of white walls and other neutral colors. Everything just appears more clean and crisp, thus more relaxing for us. I ended up picking the Irvine frames. Framebridge makes it so easy to create the gallery wall, you can choose to send in your photos and have them framed by them or you can upload the files directly to them while ordering. I chose the latter option because it makes things so much easier.

One of the biggest upgrades in our room was switching out the closet door to this gorgeous sliding barn door. We shopped around for a while and even contemplated making our own sliding barn door but ended up finding this one from Lowe’s for such a bargain price that we couldn’t pass it up. The quality is great and we love the look of it.

The small wooden coffee table below the gallery wall was actually made by Craig’s grandfather when he was in high school and was refinished by his mother for us when we moved into our first home together. Certainly a piece to hold on to and treasure forever!

When I found this old pulley at a yard sale last year I knew it would serve as a decorative piece in our new home but it took me a while to decide how. When working on our master bedroom I thought up this macrame plant hanger using it and love how it turned out. You can read the full blog post and learn how to DIY your own here.

We’ve kind of ignored this door in our room that leads to our future master bedroom patio area but when strolling through Hobby Lobby one day this caught my eye so I snatched it up for the room. Eventually we will get a new door there but we are undecided on what style we’d like.

You’ve already seen our before and after for our sitting area here and here but for the sake of one giant after post here are the pictures of our sitting area with links to the products we picked out for the space.

So there you have it, our completed master bedroom renovation. We can’t believe that after 10 years of home ownership we finally have the master bedroom that we’ve always wanted. We still need to upgrade the master bath, walk out patio and walk in closet but for now I think we’ll just enjoy this space.
