Master Bedroom Before + Plans

I have partnered with Raymour & Flanigan and received product in exchange for this post. All expressed opinions are 100% my own

This master bedroom makeover has been a looooong time coming, as in like 10 years! Our old house had a tiny master bedroom and since we knew we didn’t want to live there forever we never bought furniture for it, but when we moved into our new home at the end of 2015 we knew our time for a gorgeous master bedroom retreat had come. No more hand me down mismatching furniture for us 😉

The before space was already in great shape with hardwood floors and great windows and freshly painted drywall so we just needed to replace the outdated wood trim with thicker white trim. Updated white trim really makes such a difference in a space. When we looked at the home we knew immediately how we would want to lay the room out, the bed would go near the large window so we could take advantage of the view. We have a separate sitting area so we envisioned a comfy couch that we could hang out on and relax. We got lucky and have a walk-in-closet larger than most bedrooms so we didn’t need to purchase any dressers to store clothing in, that could all stay out of view in the closet.

The photo above shows where our couch nook will go. Eek i’m just so excited for that part! Some pieces we’re putting in this area are this loveseat from Raymour & Flanigan

Side table pictured above is this one. We also need to pick out a large floor lamp to complete this corner area, this one caught my eye.

I’m loving this in progress shot of how the room is coming together. The hutch was a hand-me-down piece which we were originally going to get rid of but I decided to see how it looks with a spray paint face lift, and I love it! The mirror and vases add the perfect decorative touches to this couch corner. I can already see us spending lots of time relaxing in this area!

As for the rest of the room we are going to replace the closet door with a sliding barn door, upgrade to a king size bed, and add a few new pieces of furniture like end tables, lamps, large rug for under the bed and update the photos in our room.

We are hard at work finishing this space and can’t wait to finally have the master bedroom retreat that we’ve dreamed of for so many years.
