If your child is anything like my youngest you are on the go from as soon as he wakes up and non stop throughout the day until bed time. Maybe it’s because he’s my second boy, or maybe he’s just incredibly active and fearless -either way it’s both exhausting and fun keeping up with him.

A few months ago the climbing began- he will climb anything and everything he can. We are at the point where we have to keep all of our kitchen table chairs on the table or he will use them to climb onto the table or scoot them around to climb other furniture. He’s also a master gate breaker, we have two sets of stairs and quickly realized we needed to fortify the baby gates at the bottom of them with additional reinforcements like heavy furniture that he cannot move or otherwise climb on to. Is it just my kid or is this extreme infant climbing a second child/boy thing?!

Probably the biggest challenge of all that comes with having such an adventurous one year old is the diaper changes. Oh the diaper changes, just thinking about them is exhausting enough. It’s a serious wrestling match and consists of me trying to dangle a toy, sing a few songs and wrestle my 1 year old just to get him into a clean diaper. If i’m lucky my older son will join in on the “baby distraction” as we termed it and help me out.
