how to host a friendsgiving
In our household, we love any reason to get together with our friends and host them in our home. Thanksgiving is no exception and each year we host a Friendsgiving celebration with our closest friends. We find that everyone has such busy schedules these days, so it’s nice to set aside a date for this special celebration. We tend to keep things pretty casual and pot-luck style (which is easy with the help of Chinet® Classic White™ products), but the possibilities are endless for hosting Friendsgiving.

Whether you’re keeping it ultra fancy and adult-only, or family-friendly and casual, following these 3 tips will help ensure your Friendsgiving celebration runs smoothly:

  1. Create a festive online invitation to invite your friends and track your RSVP count.

Paperless invitations are a convenient and affordable (free!) way to keep things festive and invite your friends over.  Whether you use a Facebook event invite or a free online service this is a great way to easily track your RSVPs.

  1. Skip the turkey, just do turkey-based appetizers.

Turkey is the go-to food at Thanksgiving, but since you’ll be eating it in just a few short weeks you may want to instead make turkey-inspired appetizers such as turkey sliders.   I prefer appetizers served buffet style so guests can help themselves and there is less work for the host. My absolute favorite side dish is spaghetti squash with a mix of vegetables like green peas and red peppers.  Another favorite and easy to make dish is 3 bean salad. Both of these dishes are very fitting for this time of the year and are always a crowd pleaser. As for the drink menu we generally keep it simple and offer water and a delicious Fall sangria.

I put everything out on our kitchen island, including the Chinet Classic White products and let our guests fill in the rest of the island with food as they arrive!  If you are hosting a more fancy, adult-only event you can definitely go ahead and do a sit-down-style meal. I prefer to use disposable products to make set up and cleanup easier, which means I get more time to spend with our family and friends. I choose the Chinet brand because their disposable plates are strong enough for extra helpings, have a thick and sturdy design and are designed to not bend, fold or leak. Perfect for any celebration!
