Best Allergy and Medical Bracelets

Deciding to wear a medical or allergy alert bracelet can be a life saving decision for you or your child. Not only do they alert others to your condition, but they can even provide information about who to contact or what steps to take in an emergency.

Whether you have a life threatening food allergy, diabetes or another medical condition they can be personalized with your information. Alert bracelets are available in a wide variety of looks and sizes from infant to adult. As to what to personalize your band with it is important to speak with your physician about what information is most important to include on your allergy or medical alert bracelets. We wear our bracelets daily but it’s especially important to wear them when traveling or going anywhere new and with people who are you are not familiar with.

Here are our top 5 choices for Allergy and Medical Alert Bracelets:

1. AllerMates Food Allergy Bracelet for Children

These bracelets are great for younger children. They are adjustable sizes and soft enough on the wrist that it won’t bother your child. I like that you can customize the allergens on the bracelet and it’s definitely eye catching enough in case of an emergency. Click the link or photo above to customize your own.

2. Medical Alert Wrap Bracelet

They are one size fits all adults and quite comfortable to wear. They are priced very affordably as well. You can personalize yours here.

3. Road ID Medical Alert Bracelet

The Road ID bracelets are adjustable and fit children through adults. Available in 6 colors they feature a stainless steel metal plate which can be customized with your alert info. The band is silicone.

4. Nut Allergy Silicone Bands

These silicone bands seem like a great, inexpensive option for anyone with a nut allergy. They are not customizable but I would probably buy a few of these to keep on hand and wear when you’re swimming or know you’ll need a waterproof option. You can also purchase these and keep them around your stroller, clasp to a diaper bag or purse for an extra alert step.

Allerbling

Similar to the allermates bracelet shown above this is a silicone bang that is adjustable in 4 sizes and can be customized with different food allergens on the band. Perfect for kids, it is a non irritating materials and is bright and obvious enough to alert an EMT.

There are many other products available to help alert EMT’s and others to your medical condition. One great option for kids are these food allergy alert stickers which can be placed on car seats in case of a car accident when a parent or adult is unable to communicate about their child’s allergy. We also place the stickers on lunch boxes, drink cups and pretty much anything else that will hold a sticker and be near your child.

These in case of emergency contact cards would be great for keeping in your purse or wallet, backpack, car and lunchbox. I recently found this Epi Pen Inside hangtag and think it’s a great idea to help others easily identify where you store you epi pens in case of an emergency.

I also really love the idea of a custom keychain like this one. It seems like a great idea to keep attached to a bag or backpack at all times.
