Before and After- Downstairs Bathroom

bathroom

One of our first projects before moving in to our new home was gutting and remodeling our downstairs bathroom. All of the bathrooms in our new home are very outdated but we are giving ourselves plenty of time to update the upstairs ones since we are the only ones who really see them.

This was a pretty simple reno, our biggest challenge was removing the tile floor. It proved to be a multi day job for my husband. I think it had to do with the floor underneath being concrete and therefore the tiles and grout were really stuck in place quite well.

We chose a wood tile flooring from Lowes, worth the splurge since this space was so small.I can’t tell for sure if this is the exact flooring but it looks to be it. The white vanity was also from Lowes. The mirror is from Target.

We used the same Behr paint that we used on our kitchen island and coffee bar in the bathroom but went for a beadboard trim around the lower part of the walls. That was mostly out of convenience since we tore apart the old tile backsplash and larger vanity leaving a mess on the old drywall. Putting up beadboard is much easier than drywall 😉

I saw a similar deer head towel holder on Fixer Upper (any other Joanna fans out there?!) and knew it would look great in our new bathroom. The deer head is from Hobby Lobby and the wooden frame was a garage sale find.

We still need to figure out a new light/fan combo, any suggestions? I haven’t found any light/fan combos that are both bright and stylish. I’m also thinking we need to hang something like a large picture, or maybe a wooden hand painted quote above the toilet to help liven the space up a bit, especially with the mirror being so small. Send me your suggestions! Up next- 3 bathrooms upstairs, the boys will be first and is already in progress. I’ve started painting the vanity navy, spray painting the old handles with a gold/brass color and have big plans to paint the porcelain tile and tub. Wish me luck!
