Creating the Perfect Baby Registry for Family Travel Gear with Babylist

    baby travel gear must haves

As a mom of two young children and experienced traveler, I thought it was about time to write down all of my gear suggestions to add to your baby registry.  Skip the diaper genie and wipe warmers, and register for the items you’ll actually need and use.  I’ve found that the perfect platform for creating a travel ready registry is through Babylist Baby Registry.

If you aren’t already familiar with Babylist, this is an online universal registry website that allows you to add items from all across the web.  You can add items directly from the Babylist site, or you can use a browser bookmarklet or their app.  They do not limit you to one or two stores like most typical baby registries. This makes them like the Pinterest of baby registries! You can add items from big brand stores, Etsy shops, local boutiques, and you can even add coupon or favor items like home cooked meals.

Babylist also has its own online store and offers incentives like free shipping on orders over $45 and a 10% discount for you to use on all your remaining registry items after your baby shower.  They also offer sample registries and product guides to help make your registry creation as easy and informed as possible.  Their website it easy to use, so all of your family and friends can purchase items directly from your Babylist registry without trouble.

When you create a registry on Babylist, you are eligible for a free Hello Baby Box. The contents of the box change every month and are only available in limited quantities, but they include samples from different brands and are stuffed full of coupons and valuable offers. Read more here about the free Hello Baby Box eligibility.  The box I received was full of helpful baby items like a Burt’s Bees Baby bodysuit, a bottle, diaper, and wipes.  It also included many valuable coupons.

So, what are the best travel items to register for and prepare for a lifetime of travel with your little one? I’ll lay it all out for you below so you can easily add them to your Babylist registry. These are the 5 most overlooked items when registering that a travel loving family needs to consider. If you have any other suggestions or questions feel free to comment below.

    Strollers

I’m a huge fan of UPPAbaby strollers. We just received the G-Link and it has been a travel lifesaver. If you aren’t quite ready for a double stroller yet, consider their other strollers. They have several lightweight, compact strollers that are perfect for traveling.  I’ve also had my eye on the GB Pockit stroller which is lightweight and folds up to fit in a tote bag!

    Infant Carriers

Ergobaby, Ergobaby, Ergobaby for the win.  I’ve tried many different carriers but I always come back to my trusted Ergobaby carrier. It’s comfortable for me to wear and my kids have always loved being carried in them. I recently carried my 3 year old on my back in one while doing some hiking in upstate New York. If you want a more structured carrier I suggest reading this article about the Osprey Poco Premium.  You can read this post which is a comprehensive guide to baby wraps for more in depth information.

    Travel Beds

I’m a big fan of the DockATot. We bring it everywhere with us, except flights. It’s the perfect lounger for my younger son and we use it for camping and hotel rooms. It also allows for a sense of familiar comfort while traveling for him.  You can read more here about the best travel beds for toddlers and add them to your registry too!

    Life Jackets

This is an often overlooked item for a baby registry but so necessary for us adventurous families! I don’t have a particular brand that I am loyal to, but I didn’t want to leave this off the list.

    Car Seat

Of course you’ll be needing one of these, and you should consider getting one that will fit on an airplane, or registering for two, one designated just for flying.  Take a look at the Doona car seat/stroller, it can be pushed down an airplane aisle and is approved for airplane travel.  It is a super cool 2 in 1 combo! You can read more about all of the choices in our flying with car seats post here.

    Suitcase

It might seem a bit premature to register for your new little one’s suitcase but it’s never too early to plan ahead for travel! Read more about the best carry on luggage for kids here.
