Hosting for the Holidays

One of our favorite things about the holiday season is that we get to host so many friends and family members at our house! From playdates to our Christmas Eve party there is always a guest in our home. Last year was a bit crazy since we moved into our new house one week before Christmas. We barely had time to unpack, let alone decorate the house. So, since we’ve been in our new home for almost one year now we are so excited to relax a bit more this year while hosting our out of town guests.

Besides getting the guest room ready and cleaning out the toy room we needed to make the downstairs bathroom festive and functional for our guests. This bathroom is pretty tiny so we like to be creative in how we set it up. We started with our toiletries basket which holds the extra toilet paper and festive tissue box. It’s hard to find cute tissue boxes, right? We found these at Target when we were there shopping for our Quilted Northern Ultra Plush® Mega Rolls, in the same aisle.

Why this specific brand and type of toilet paper you ask? Let me explain, usually i’m pretty cheap and will buy whatever I think is the best deal and more often than not it turns out to be a horrible deal because the paper is super thin and there is barely any on the roll. So with the busy holiday season in mind and a non-stop flow of guests I thought it was about time I up my toilet paper game and go for the good stuff. The mega rolls means the toilet paper will last longer and we won’t have to worry about running in to the bathroom to refill the roll or even worse, our guests running out. This is one of those small changes that has a big impact!

See what i’m talking about, that is a Mega Roll! Here is a close up of the packaging so you can be sure to pick the right one. Also, don’t forget my fellow Target lovers to use your Cartwheel app when purchasing and save 5% by November 30th!

Okay, back to the festive decorating now.

To create your own festive toiletries basket all you need is three things:
1.Basket
2.Holiday Bows
3. Toilet paper/tissues/whatever else you’d like to fill it with.

Simply decorate the basket with a bow or bows of your choice. I picked both the basket and bows up on my Target run.

I added a few other festive touches to our home including hanging this wreath on our buck head. Totally stole the idea from Fixer Upper (the buck head towel holder) and i’m still not ashamed to admit that 😉

I love these ideas. My mom will be hosting, and she is always worried about making things festive enough. I could easily help her put something like this together.

Thanks for the inspiration! I love decorating but struggle to come up with ideas that are actually doable by the normal person (me).

I love this idea. I love baskets. I have a few in almost every room to organize things. This is just my style for the holidays and the bathroom. Thank you.
