1 Year Home Anniversary + Living Room Tour

img_0560

I can’t believe that one year ago today we bought our forever home! We spent years, literally 5 years looking for our perfect forever home and we had finally found it. We had made offers on so many homes before this one, meanwhile this one was right in front of us the entire time and we are so thankful that things worked out the way that they did.

This home was far from move in ready so we spent the next two months fixing it up and moved in right before Christmas (we are crazy, I know!). Our living room is a large and open room with tons of natural light and it connects to our kitchen and the room we ended up using as a play room for the kids. It also has two fireplaces. It took us forever to decide how to furnish and set up this room, this house has such a unique layout that there really aren’t any obvious choices for room uses. Ultimately we decided to keep it open feeling and scratched the idea to turn it into our family hangout/movie room.

We are slowly adding in more small pieces as time goes on but this room is still one of those spaces that we just don’t want to make any rash decorating decisions with. The large brick fireplace wall is another area of uncertainty in the room, I don’t love the brick so we are tossing around the idea of removing all of it and doing a natural stone veneer instead. It’s just so time consuming and messy that i’m not sure we can put up with that.

Leave your decorating suggestions in the comments if you have any! This is one of those rooms that I would love to know what Joanna Gaines would do with 😉
